I started teaching English Language Arts in 2001, here at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. I have a Bachelor's Degree in English, a Master's Degree in Education, and a Master's Degree in Literature. I teach the following courses: 10th grade English Language Arts, Creative Writing, Modern Short Story Seminar, and Contemporary Poetry. Before I entered the teaching
profession, I worked as a technical writer for many years. I have a 12-year-old son, Atticus, and my wife, Alicia, is also a teacher. I write
novels, short stories, and poetry in the early mornings before school,
and I am represented by the Philip G. Spitzer Literary Agency. I spend any free time after school reading, surfing, playing guitar, and with my family.
I am passionate about teaching and consider it a noble responsibility. Each year, I look forward to coming back, working with, and learning from the young people I am lucky enough to have in my classes. A goal I have for all of my students is to become self-sufficient, lifelong learners: people who understand the way in which they, as individuals, learn, and who also use this understanding to serve themselves throughout their lives.
"Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself" -- John Dewey
